Comic book artists can always say that the collar is the cast shadow of the head over the neck...
hmm. this is a tricky one. i know as a kid i used to do it at 'adult parties' as a way to get attention, and participate...but at the same time, i avoided entering conversation, waiting for it to turn to what i was doing...
i dunno. maybe it's intrinsic to artists to want others to see value in our work rather than risk having them LOOK for value in just our actual social skills.
