The Shape Of Things To Come (My Destiny Comic)
This little comic took me almost a month to make. I'm sorry for getting so far behind with my posting. (Comic coming soon about all of that.) I decided that this comic was too important to me to have it rushed to be done in five days time.
For those of you who are living in or planning to visit Hobart, you can drop by Pocketspace and pick up one of my little sampler zine comics for $12. Get them while they're hot. 'Cause nobody likes a stale book of comics!

Very cool. Thanks for this.
Well, it was worth the month. It's a beautiful comic. I loved the last frame, and I love the attitude the whole thing has. Your character (yeah, you) has a great way of thinking of life, limits, and the value of our own efforts....
WOW! I love it!! I am always so impressed with your vision. You just have the coolest way of putting things together!
C.
EPIC!
All the care and attention to detail you obviously put into this sequence was well worth the extra time. You're a super-talented mofo, Mr. Downes.
So powerful and beautiful <3
its a great comic!! totaly worth the waiting :3! i hope i could grab a copy u.u' but hell yeah, i love your way of looking at things, and i was just wondering, do you do the lettering by hand too?
Lovely work, very timely too. Thanks chris!
Thanks! I'm so stoked all of you guys like it.
I was really nervous about making this comic because I was afraid it wouldn't make any sense. But, I went ahead with it anyway. Ans I am overwhelmed by the feedback.
You remind me of Matt Reidsma ... both of you are diary comic artists that have proved they can put out a kick ass quality comic once a day every day, but then take a comic that should take only five days and add even more work and make it take a month. Sure the final product is always worth the wait and the longer comic usually means that your style is growing, but darn it it also means I have to be impatient and over eager to see your next piece.
Keep up the good work, but be carefull not to take too long.
I like my comics stale ... they tend to be discounted price. :P
i was worried for a while, but this was definitely worth the wait.
just awesome awesome work. your visual metaphors are getting better and better...
actually, they kinda remind me of scott mccloud's book/essay/comics on comics...
Great one, sailor!
(u forgot the scuba gear on the last panel....)
Yay! Some comics just deserve that extra touch, and time.
Chris,
It is very rare to see a life changing epiphany in comic form. Yes, a moment of sudden intuitive understanding clearly revealed in black and white; it is almost spiritual.
Blessings on you;
-Dad-
-and then he was gone again...what's happened chris, got another big project in the works?
Rest assured, I'm working on a follow up to this comic.
After that, I've got do a comic about my Greatx4 Grandfather in the Civil War. Gotta get started on some research for that one.
I'll post that too.
Amazing drawings, great timing (agree with Dojang, has the pace of a Scott McLoud). Exciting to see you develop the dynamics with a little more (secretive) (non blogged during process) time. ta
Do I see a cross in panel 3...or is it my imagination?
this is incredible. I LOVE the lettering and the detail is crazy
I think this has to be one of the single most inspirational installments of any bio-comic I have ever seen.
Thank you. And thanks for the motivational slogan about the debris of fate.
Quality. High in fact. As opposed to all those other qualities. I mean, I like it and I think I even agree with you. Hello.
